Jeff and I took an afternoon off and headed to the beach. The Newport Beach peninsula holds many little gems: Mama D’s Italian Kitchen, Fly N Fish Oyster Bar and Grill, ll Farro and Original Pizza. On our last visit, another gem just opened up, the Dory Deli. Located right on the water front across from the beach. The Dory Deli is fun, hip and has terrific food.
They offer terrific sandwiches from the Rubinstein: corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese with Russian dressing on marble rye to the Buffalo Mary: Crispy cauliflower coasted in buffalo sauce, shredded carrots, vegenaise, celery and greens on a sub roll. What caught my attention was Tarragon Chicken Sandwich: Chicken salad, tomato, greens and IPA mustard on squaw bread.
Jeff had the Fish and Chips: Beer battered Dory Floeet “Fresh Catch of the Day” with Kennebect fries and creole aioli
They have a fine assortment of wine and beer on tap: Pacifico, Saint Archer White, Stella Artois, Ballast Point Sculpin, Coors Light, Alesmith Nut Brown, Wild Goose Pale Ale, Barley Forge Patsy Coconut Rye Stout
