This week on our LA to LA Road Trip (Los Angeles to Louisiana) Savory Road Radio’s  Jeff Baker, interview’s David Marinello, Propietor of La Divina Cafe.  Located off  Pirate’s Alley in the French Quarter, David  explains that there was once a Sicilian, Italian neighborhood in the French Quarter.  A Italian grocer noticed that the typical worker would buy an assortment of  bread, slices of meat, cheeses and olives for lunch everyday.  He thought he would make it easier for them by creating a sandwich incorporating these ingredients info one sandwich.  He called  it a Muffuletta after the Sicilian bread he piled everything on.
