This week we visit Doffo Winery in Temecula’s Wine growing valley. Marcelo and Zulma Doffo owners and winemakers told Jeff how they incorporate their Italian-Argentine heritage in making some beautiful wines. Considered a micro-boutique winery (15 acres) they focus on producing small lot, handcrafted wines. Marcelo uses handed-down farming techniques along with family traditions to produce from rich Malbec’s, Zinfandel and Syrah’s to lighter Viognier’s, Sauvignon Blanc’s and Sparkling wines. His secret technique, Marcelo has classical music broadcast in his vineyard. Not only do they produce wines but Zulma makes a terrific traditional Argentine Chimichuri sauce.

This 15 acre winery has been hand planted and tended by the Doffo family with techniques handed down from generation to generation.
The winery was built around a former site of an historic school house.
Marcelo tells Jeff about his farming techniques: meticulous handcrafting, crop-thinning and minimal irrigation.
Marcelo was inspired by his uncle when visiting his vineyard in the Piedmont of Italy.
Marcelo believes that playing classical music in the vineyard is magical and soothes the grapes as they develop.
MotoDoffo is Marcelo’s collection of vintage motorcycles and scooters. Located near the tasting room.
Doffo winery also sells olive oil and Zulma’s chimichuri sauce.
Doffo is famous for their handcrafted reds including Argentine favorite Malbec.

Outside the tasting room sits the “Parilla”. an outdoor, wood-burning oven and grill.
The whole family is involved in the wine making.
