Listen to the PODCAST
Last night we had the honor of attending Garrison Keilor’s last performance of Prairie Home Companion at the Hollywood Bowl. When we bought the tickets several months ago, we didn’t know this would be his last show. Jeff has been a big fan since 1995 and actually goes to sleep each night listening to Garrison’s News From Lake Wobegon or Writer’s Almanac podcasts. We attended with my parents Lutheran church group and enjoyed a potluck before at a Hollywood Bowl picnic area. The only thing missing was the carrot jello salad, which would add the perfect touch to this fun night.
Garrison and crew but on a wonderful performance with singing, story telling, and jokes. The night ended with a sweet personal touch as Garrison returned to stage for an encore – by himself he started singing folk songs and hymns. We joined along with him. It was magical – just his voice with thousands of us.
We left the bowl happy that we were part of this special show.
